Your own space program

Ever wanted to be your own boss, run your own space program but do not have the deep pockets of Richard Branson or the astronautical saavy of Burt Rutan nor the endurance of his brother Dick? You can try exploring near space through high altitude ballooning. The Treasure Valley Near Space Program in Idaho is a good source of information on the subject matter.

L. Paul Verhage has made available the first 15 chapters if his book on Amateur Radio High Altitude Ballooning (ARHAB) available for download, as well as articles on the same subject from Nuts and Volts magazine. Very cool reading indeed.

So go ahead and get you local amateur radio operators, high schoolers and other wanna-be astronauts to get out there and reach for space.
